King Lear was written in about 1605. Cordelia was expelled to leave home for France with the French king who loved her. King Lear only kept the throne and a hundred attendants and planned to enjoy his late age in his two daughters' houses in turn. Unexpectedly, the two elder daughters showed their colors after they obtained the objective. The king was forced out of home and suffered a great deal from dislocation. When the youngest daughter hears of his miserable experience, she raises troops and sends forces to suppress her two elder sisters. But unfortunately, Cordelia loses the battle at last and kills herself with a grievance after being captured. And King Lear also dies in a state of deep sorrow and lunacy. When he loses his kingship, power and experiences hardships, he regains humanity so when he dies what he thinks is not the reputation, the majesty, but the little daughter he expelled out of court. But he could not awake the kind heart from death. He finally realizes that the most precious thing is the love which cannot be brought with money or power. But when he two daughters are flattering him, making him feel happy, the youngest one is not afraid of speaking out the truth. He expelled the little daughter from home with great anger.
Cordelia is kind, pure, obedient but she is also tenacity and impulsive. Since she knows what kind of person her sisters are, why don`t she get her share and make a better preparation for her father? Keep our self-respect and way doesn't do anything wrong,but sometimes people need talk and communication ,and sometimes words have more effect than action. It cannot be denied that she is happy and lives her life in love, having a lover who loves her truly which cannot be desired by her sisters. But she was also emotional, because of her sisters' bad treatment to her father, she started a war and died with humiliation in the prison after her failure. Isn't this emotional?
Although she was so kind that she could not bear to see how her sisters treated their father, she should do something when she had the confidence to win. Therefore, there is no doubt that she would be defeated when she sent troops without complete preparation. Although the story happened in a remote ancient country, it has many exemplifications in our real life. We all like people who say honeyed words and praising words to us, but the result turns out that they are just the people who hurt us. This is not precisely the condemnation of those who keeps poison in the honey of the conspirators? In real life, phenomenon and essence, appearance and content tend to vary so greatly, so we can not lose sense because of the phenomenon and the appearance of to be the next King Lear. "What is shining is not all gold!" There is a concept and standard of good and evil, false and true in our hearts. No one can tell them when born, and it is not possible for us to have a good result as the story in the book.
We must go through all the difficulties to learn how to distinguish them. It is impossible to suppress the impulsion for sweetness, however, if you never taste what is bitter, how can you learn to appreciate the flavor of sweet.
